The Broomsedge Project: learning more about the invasive weed

FREDONIA, Kan. — The K-State Extension office hosts a workshop teaching people about Broomsedge. Also known as “Poverty Grass” and “Sagegrass” this invasive weed is so stiff they used to make brooms out of it. Hence why it’s also called Broomsedge. If you want to learn more about this invasive weed — you can sign up for their Broomsedge Field Trial News event! The first one in Fredonia is on October 8th from 11 AM to 2 PM (and yes, there’s still time to sign up for this event on Saturday)! Lunch is also provided. There is also a second one of these events on October 22nd from 11 AM to 2 PM in Caney, KS. If you wish to sign up for either one of these events just call Pam at 620-378-2866. More information can also be found on their website.
