Home Burglary leads to theft of 2 dogs; shooting of 1 dog in Webb City

WEBB CITY, Mo. – A Webb City Police Officer wounded a dog after the animal charged him down during a burglary investigation.

At around 5:30 p.m. today, the Webb City Police Department was called to the 1000 block of West First Street in Webb City in reference to a burglary and assault in progress.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 43-year-old white male from Oronogo kicked in the rear door of the residence, assaulted the resident then took two of the three dogs at the residence before fleeing from the scene in his vehicle.

While investigations were underway, WC Officers say the third dog that was left at the residence escaped the resident’s fence and began charging at a neighbor and an officer.

The dog continued to charge at an officer who was on the ground at the time. According to the media release, the officer then fired his weapon at the animal.

Police say the dog was then taken to a local veterinary office where it was euthanized due to its injuries.

  • Burglary
  • Stealing
  • 3rd degree Assault

  • Viscous Dog
  • Dog at Large
