William “Bill” Earl Desbien, age 70, formerly of Abilene, Kansas, passed away at his home on Friday, September 23rd, 2022.
Bill was born January 6th, 1952 in Larned, Kansas to the late union of Vernon and Dorthea (Hicks) Desbien. He grew up in the Stockton, Kansas area. He was a 1971 graduate of Stockton High School. He then went on to attend Fort Hays State University and graduated with his Masters in Counseling. While in Fort Hays, he met the love of his life of 44 years, Vicki Carlisle. On September 22nd, 1978 he and Vicki were married in Topeka, Kansas and together they had two children, Britton and Haley. Bill loved the college life and everyone on campus knew him. He was a part of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He loved K-State football, keeping up with the latest news (the guy was a wealth of knowledge), golfing,and spending time with his children and grandchildren. But most of all, he loved spending time and traveling with his wife and best friend Vicki.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Desbien and Patrick Desbien, and his father-in-law, Victor Carlisle.
Bill is survived by his wife of the home, Vicki; two children, Britton Desbien and wife Heather; Haley Eade and husband Michael; six grandchildren; Brayden, Addison, Jett, Beckett, Ainslie, and Emilie; brother-in-law, Curt Carlisle and wife Diane, and their children, Chase, Blake, Meg; mother-in-law, Nevell Carlisle; three sisters, Janie Spenrath and husband Ron, Julie Norris and husband Gary, and Jolene Hamel and husband Kraig; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and a countless number of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the Abilene Optimist Club c/o Tony Geiger, 210 NW 10th St Abilene, KS 67410
Bill’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 26th, come and go starting at 3 pm at Shockey and Landes Building, 324 N Broadway in Abilene.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
