Pauline Doris Vance-McDowell, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Freeman West.

Doris was born August 24, 1934 in Fort Townsend, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Henry Vance and Margaret (Flinn) Vance. She graduated from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She married Claude McDowell, and they traveled the country working on home roofing for years. She was co-owner of McDowell Roofing in Joplin. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also had a special place in her heart for her pets. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a son.

She is survived by her children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be private family service at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Solace House of the Ozarks.
