BIG STORY #3: Sheriff Chris Jennings states Newton County escapee Michael Durison, 39, is back in police custody. After following several tips Newton County Detectives and the Joplin Police Department took Durison into custody in a travel trailer located at 1808 West 20th, near 20th and McCoy, in Joplin. BIG STORY #2: Early Tuesday morning linemen from the Carthage area loaded up to head to Florida so they can respond immediately when Hurricane Ian weakens. “Lineman headed out bright & early this morning for Orlando, Florida to aid in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian,” Carthage Water and Electric in a media release. “We’re always proud when our crews are ready to answer the call to lend a hand in mutual aid situations such as this.” If you’d like to read more about these local linesmen, click here.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, SpaceX launched a Falcon rocket that released 52 new satellites to join the chain of thousands of that are known as STARLINK.
