Pitt State climbs into top-10 in national rankings

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Pittsburg State Gorillas continue to climb the national rankings this season.

Pitt State has moved up 4 spots to #10 in the AFCA Division II poll released on Monday morning. The Gorillas are 4-0 to begin the season, and are the only MIAA team with a perfect record through the first month of their schedule. They are also now the highest ranked team in the MIAA.

Pitt State will host rival Missouri Southern (3-1) on Saturday in the latest edition of the Miner’s Bowl. The Lions have won three straight games for the first time since 2013.

Northwest Missouri slips in the poll from #2 to #12 this week following their loss to Central Oklahoma. Nebraska-Kearney is #23. The Washburn Ichabods received votes in the poll, but still sit outside the top-25.
