Statement from Miami Police Department Chief
The Miami Police Department posted the following release to social media.
“On September 13, 2022, Miami Public Schools contacted me and asked for Officer Sparks to be reassigned and not assigned as an SRO. Officer Sparks had held that position for 5 years. At the request of the School District and to maintain a cohesive partnership we reassigned Sparks to a patrol shift. Officer Sparks was never under investigation, nor was this a disciplinary matter for the Police department or the City of Miami. Officer Sparks has served the City since 2015 and will continue to serve our citizens in a patrol capacity.
Thomas Anderson
Chief, Miami Police Dept.”
