Mary Ann Blakemore 82, of Pittsburg, Ks died at 11:15 am Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at her home following an illness. Mary was born July 23, 1940, in Frontenac, Ks, the daughter of John Thomas Sr. and Ruth Manion. As Mary was growing up, she lived in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Calumet High School. She later took college courses in computer science. On February 17, 1960, Mary Ann married William Lawrence Blakemore in Cook County, Illinois; he preceded her in death on May 10, 2003. She moved back to Pittsburg in 1972. Mary worked as an Auditor at the Townsman Motel in Pittsburg, Ks, retiring in 1997. Mary was of the Christian faith; she loved reading, television, movies, cooking, music, charity, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children William Michael Blakemore of Pittsburg, Ks, Linda Marie Brinkmeyer and husband Kurt of Pittsburg, Ks, Kenneth John Blakemore and wife Brandy of Mulberry, Ks, Scott Thomas Blakemore and wife Lori of Pittsburg, Ks, and Allen Anthony Blakemore and wife Dionne of Arma, Ks; brother John T. Manion Jr. and wife Linda of Arma, Ks; grandchildren Christina Shook, Alisha O’Toole, Jill Brinkmeyer, Devon Page, Madison Blakemore, Chase Blakemore, Ashley Strange, Megan Blakemore, Garnet Blakemore, Vivian Blakemore; great-grandchildren Davis Carroll, Alyssa Shook, and Kairi Strange. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Sharon Kay Manion, and great-granddaughter Kylan Shook.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, Ks with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, Ks. Family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Lord’s Diner in Pittsburg, Ks. Memorials may be left at Friskel Funeral Home 230 E.
