Glen A. Likins, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away at 7:11 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Elmhaven East in Parsons, Kansas.
Glen Arlan Likins was born on August 19, 1935, to Clifford E. and Opal M. (Atherton) Likins in Dennis, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up in the Dennis area, attending Pleasant Hill Grade School and graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1952.
Following high school, he served in the United States Army until returning home after his father’s passing. Glen then earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Pittsburg State University. For many years, he worked as an oil field engineer traveling the world for work. The countries he worked in included Algiers, Iran, Holland and China before returning to the United States, where he worked in the oil fields in California, Colorado, Texas and Louisiana. After retiring in the 1990’s, Glen and his wife, Inge Beck of Denmark, settled in Rogers, Arkansas. In 2004, the couple moved to Homosassa, Florida.
His greatest enjoyment came from traveling with his wife. They traveled all over the world and the United States. In his retirement, Glen continued to help others. He drove the tram for the visitors who came see the manatees go upstream to the Crystal River in Florida. He dedicated many years to working in the thrift store of the area hospice in Homosassa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Inge, in 2004; one brother, Ray Likins; one sister, LaDonna Brothers; and two brothers-in-law, Rudell Prater and Jack Brothers.
The family will have a private family commitment service at a later time. Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
