Armed burglary suspect flees after resident holds him at gunpoint; Surrenders to K9 Unit

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. – Boone County Deputies arrested a man who they say entered a residence with a large knife with the intent to burglarize the occupants.

At around 12:30 p.m. on September 13, a caller alerted Boone County Dispatch regarding a burglary in progress.

The 911 caller stated that a male subject carrying a large knife entered their residence through an unlocked door.

The caller told dispatch that another occupant of the residents was holding the suspect at gunpoint in the kitchen.

When officers arrived, they located a 31-year-old male from Columbia, Missouri sitting outside the residence, still with the knife in hand.

Police then commanded the suspect to stand up, however, he fled the scene. 

A Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit responded to assist and the suspect was located in the yard of a neighboring residence.

Based on their observations, deputies say the suspect possibly suffered from some type of impairment and transported him to a local hospital.

Police requested the following charges:

  •  Burglary 1st Degree
  • Armed Criminal Action
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
