Pittsburg Police bust garage-dwelling felon; accomplices arrested

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Officers with the Pittsburg Police Department made three arrests last week after a homeowner knowingly housed a wanted felon in their detached garage unit.

On Friday, September 9th, Pittsburg Deputies noticed a wanted felon, 30-year-old Brittany Jane Bowling, of Weir, Kansas, enter a detached garage at a residence in the 1200 block of E. 8th St., in Pittsburg.

Officers spoke with the homeowner who agreed to let the police enter the property.

Authorities say when they entered the garage, they encountered a man who claimed he was the only one there after he was detained.

Upon investigations, police located Bowling in the attic of the garage and arrested her. 

According to the media release, Bowling had warrants out of the Pittsburg Municipal Court, Crawford County District Court, Cherokee County District Court, and Newton County, Missouri, District Court.

Officers say the man in the garage, as well as the homeowner, were arrested and booked into the Crawford County Jail.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
