Gerald “Jerry” Vernon Swopes of Miami, OK passed from this life Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his home. He was 72.

Jerry was born May 17, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Vernon Noel and Eva May (Dunning) Swopes. He had lived in Miami since 1975 moving from Joplin, MO. He owned and operated Swopes Construction in Miami, OK. He was a member of Miami Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a full time minister volunteering 90 hours a month. He was also an elder in the local congregation.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pauline (Gerbitz) Swopes of the home, 1 son, Jered Swopes and his wife Rebecca of Miami, OK, 1 daughter, Rachel Berlik and husband Michael of Miami, OK, 2 brothers, Joe Swopes of Bella Vista, AR and Jim Swopes of El Dorado Springs, MO, 1 sister, Joyce Smith of Miami, OK and 3 grandchildren, Madeline Swopes, Jaden Hardee and Emma Hardee.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Miami Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Miami, OK. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK. Online condolences may be made at www.paulthomasfuneralhomes.com.
