PARSONS, Kan. – Parsons Police arrested a man earlier this week after he allegedly burglarized a residence and entered a young girl’s bedroom.

In the early morning hours of September 4th, 2022, Parsons Police Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Appleton for a reported Aggravated Burglary in progress.

Dispatch advised officers that they received a 911 call about a man entering a homeowner’s residence and entering a child’s room.

According to the press release, the daughter escaped the room and woke her mother, who then ran to call the police in the bathroom.

The mother informed police there was still another juvenile in the house that was in a different room.

Deputies say they witnessed the man leaving the house and arrested him. While making the arrest, the suspect attempted to kick and bite officers in an attempt to break free.

Police identified the suspect as Mackenzie Cory Gamblian.

Officers discovered that Gamblian entered the residence and went into the daughter’s bedroom. Once the juvenile fled, police say Gamblian went through her belongings before leaving the residence.

Prosecutors filed the following charges:

  • Aggravated burglary
  • Interference with LEO
  • Battery on LEO
  • Theft of property or services

Parsons Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford said “I am thankful that no one was hurt during this incident. I applaud the quick thinking of the victims to go to a safe space and call authorities. It was because of their quick thinking that officers were able to make a successful arrest while the suspect was still on scene.”

Officers say the investigation is still underway.
