Glen Spears

The soul of Glen Doral Spears, 89, of Anderson Missouri, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday September 1st, 2022 in the arms of Jesus after an extended illness.  He was born in March 1933 near Anderson to parents James Marion Spears and Delpha Spears Kelley.  Glen was a respected mechanic and worked for the Divine garage, employed by the Missouri State Highway Dept, and while working as a foreman at Eagle Picher Technologies in Joplin helped to perfect the design of batteries used in space flight.

Glen served honorably in the Korean War while stationed in Germany and was a disabled veteran.  He would help anyone in need and raised his family by the golden rule “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”.  He taught his 6 children to have an exemplary work ethic and that the Spears name was synonymous with honesty and integrity.  He and Virgie enjoyed fishing and spending time on Grand Lake.  Sharing his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren were a great joy to him.

Glen married the love of his life, Virgie June Divine on her birthday in June 1956 and they were married 53 years before she passed away with cancer.  He missed her every day since and is now joyfully reunited.  Also preceding him in death were his parents James Spears & Delpha Kelley; brothers Jimmy Spears and Allen Spears; sisters Rilda Mae Spears, Delsie Lee Spears, and Linda Johnson; daughter in law Becky Spears, and granddaughter Jody.
