Senator Roger Marshall discusses Fentanyl Crisis in Kansas

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Senator Roger Marshall has Roundtable talks with Pittsburg Officials about the growing use of Fentanyl in Kansas

“It’s getting worse every day. Just taking even one half of a pill can kill. We’re trying to get the message out across the state how dangerous fentanyl is.” said Senator Roger Marshall.

SEK Community Health Center says they have seen an increase in Fentanyl recoveries.

“Keep in mind, these are folks who aren’t scheduled to come in. These are people who want help. these are people who just change their lives.” said Eric Thomason, SEK CHC Nurse Practitioner.

Kansas statistics shared by U.S. Senator Roger Marshall include the following:

  • Of the 338 people in Kansas who died of drug overdose between Jan. 1 and June 30 of last year– 149 involved Fentanyl.
  • In the first three months of this year– Kansas saw more than 2,500 drug overdoses
