Gala Maxine Fent

Gala Maxine Rogers Fent went peacefully to her heavenly home on August 11, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born four miles outside of Drumwright, Oklahoma on August 4, 1929 to Joseph Ezekiel Rogers and Vivian Mae Miller Rogers. She graduated from Stillwater High School, Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1947 and attended college for a year at Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. Gala worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Stillwater as a switchboard operator and Supervisor/Instructor for four years before marrying Ramon Horace Fent on December 23, 1950 in her parent’s home in Stillwater and moving to Omega, OK. She later moved with her husband and children to Wyandotte, OK in 1957 and later to Miami, OK in 1991.

Gala loved Jesus very much and told everyone she met about Him. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spent days preparing for holiday meals. She also enjoyed sewing her own clothes, as well as clothing for her daughter and granddaughters. She enjoyed piecing and quilting by hand and collected quilts that had been made by her mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Gala loved to play gospel music on the piano, continuing to play while residing at Featherstone Assisted Living in recent years. Sometimes the residents would sing along with her, giving her much joy.

Gala is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her son Roger Wayne Fent, and a great-granddaughter Kayauna Rose Swenson Zabel. She was also preceded by both her parents, 2 brothers, Leon Harold Rogers and Curtis Ray Rogers and a sister Betty Jo (Rogers) Webb.

Gala is survived by a daughter, Laura Beth Fent Freeman, Miami, OK, daughter-in-law, Sherri Fent, 5 grandchildren, Naomi Goforth (husband Alan), Charity Freeman, Russell Fent (wife Kelli), Sara Fent, and Nathan Fent (wife Lee Ann), 9 greatgrandchildren, Elora Braeson (husband Zachary), Zachary Goforth, (wife Kady), Josiah Swenson, Taylor Fent, Jace Fent, Gracie Fent, Logan Fent, Madison Goforth and Caleb Fent and a brother, Jimmie Nelson Rogers, (wife Becky) Coweta, OK,

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK with Rev. Brett Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami with Russell Fent, Nathan Fent, Alan Goforth, Zach Goforth, Zachary Braeson and Jace Fent serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Josiah Swenson. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
