TULSA, Okla. – Wednesday the Tulsa Fire Dept responded to a serious crash on I-44 in their city.
A car had crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer, trapping the driver. The solution was to lift the trailer off of the car to free the male.

Tulsa Fire Dept share the Engine 66 C-Platoon Captain’s narrative of the event:
Ladder 66 arrived on scene to find a two vehicle MVA with a stationary semi-tractor trailer that had been struck in the rear by a four door hatch back car. The car was pinned under the rear of the tractor trailer up to the middle of the front doors. The car was occupied at the time by the driver who was pinned in the car. The patient was awake, alert and able to interact appropriately with rescue personnel on scene but was pinned in a manner that restricted treatment and assessment. Engine 66 arrived on scene and began what patient assessment they could provide with the access they had available. We also began work to stabilize the vehicles, remove glass and doors in preparation for extrication operations. The rescue task force had already been started by Main during the initial response. Engine 27 arrived on scene and assisted with extrication also. The rescue task force arrived on scene and began lifting operations with high pressure air bags to relieve pressure on the victim in addition to utilizing additional jaws units to assist with extrication. Heavy wreckers were dispatched and arrived on scene to coordinate lifting the tractor trailer off of the car while pulling the car from underneath the trailer. After the car was out from under the trailer, crews were able to complete extrication of the patient from the vehicle and transport to St John’s via EMSAs ambulance. FF Kaiser and FF Harris rode with EMSA to assist with patient care. Fire crews assisted with cleanup of the scene and left the scene with OHP.
I would personally like to express by gratitude for the coordination of the wreaker service providers involved in extrication of the pinned individual. Without their expertise and coordination, this would have taken significantly longer and possibly effected the overall patient care outcome. The wrecker companies involved are listed below…….unfortunately due to the dynamics of the situation, I was not able to document the names of all the individuals involved, I am hoping this email will find its way to their direct supervisors in order to give the proper thanks for a job well done!Sincerely,Capt.
