Dale Edwin Baird

Dale Edwin Baird, 69, Bronaugh, MO, passed away on Friday, August 05, 2022 at his home in Bronaugh following a lengthy illness.  Dale was born October 29, 1952 in Parsons, KS to Martin E. and Letta M. (Devore) Baird.  He married Lois Johnston on April 16, 1971 in Arcadia, KS and she survives of the home.

Dale, the son of a preacher, lived in Oklahoma while growing up. He graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1971.  Following high school, he lived for 23 years in West Richland, WA, while working for the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. He came back to Vernon County in 1996 where he worked for 3M in Nevada for 18 years until his retirement. Dale was a Little League baseball coach for many years in Washington, was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge, and coached the Little League for Elks. Every other year he traveled from Washington to Oklahoma with his family and kids in a blue van to visit his parents, always driving a different route each time in order to see different parts of the country. He attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Garland, KS.

In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Johnson (Gene), Bronaugh, MO, and Leticia Mahoney (Jeffery, II), Nevada, MO; a son, Caleb Baird (Heather), Sheldon, MO; six grandchildren, Breanna Moore (Chris), Shyanne Johnson, Cassandra St. George, Jeffery Mahoney, III (Brie), Zachery Mahoney, and Mateah Baird; five great-grandchildren, Bentley, Blaine, Casey, Linley, Paisley; two brothers, David Baird (Terri), Grove, OK, and Dwayne Baird, Ashville, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Rick Womack and Pastor Kolbe Starnes officiating.  Interment will follow in Sheffield Cemetery in Arcadia, KS.  The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sheffield Cemetery Association c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
