Hot Friday to kick off the weekend – Nick

Good Friday afternoon, everyone. Our setup shows our front that was parked on top of the region over the past few days working back on through as a warm front. The front kept the vast majority of the rain and t-storms this morning to our north. We’ll have to wait for our next cold front from the northwest to give us not only a better shot for t-storms, but a chance to get a break from the heat.

As the front continues to pass on through this afternoon, it will certainly do the trick to keep us hot and humid with highs back in the middle 90s. With the humidity, it will certainly feel like the triple digits with feels like temperatures ranging between 100 and 107 during the afternoon.

After the front passes through, the upper-level ridge will keep us warm tonight with lows only dropping back into the middle to upper 70s. Much of Saturday is looking dry but hot and very humid. Highs will push into the upper 90s with heat indices eager to push close to 110° in some spots Saturday afternoon.

You can see how a few isolated t-storms could try and form late Saturday afternoon. However, better chances for rain and t-storms will come on in along and behind the front as we work through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. That setup means that the storms shouldn’t be too strong. However, that could lead to some moderate to heavy pockets of rain. That setup will force lows for Sunday morning back down into the upper 60s.

Behind the front, we’ll see partly sunny skies for Sunday and a northerly breeze result in highs back in the lower 80s. In fact, look at the upper-level setup for early next week below.

With the ridge being shunted back to the west, we’ll stay dry for early next week with more pleasant temperatures. After lows in the lower 60s for Monday and Tuesday morning, we’ll have highs in the lower to middle 80s with more comfortable air in place. However, plan on the heat working back in by Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Don’t forget that Doug’s long-range forecast is below.
