JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Empire Market today hosted its second annual Juneteenth Expo to help local businesses gain traction.
Officials say the event aims to invite the community together in celebration of Juneteenth Weekend while giving vendors and small business owners an opportunity to gain exposure.
“It is for the small businesses that are underutilized in our area. Also, different organizations that are underutilized. They don’t have the advertising budget And so we are putting this on on behalf of Juneteenth, which is Monday or Sunday. But this is our day for it today,” said Melodee Colbert-Kean, Juneteenth Expo Organizer.
