Glenda June Carlson of McPherson, KS passed from this life Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, KS. She was 78.
Glenda was born September 1, 1943 in Holdenville, OK to Norman Calcia Ray and Mary Vinita (Eagles) Morris. She had lived in Miami, OK from 1994 – 2022 before moving to McPherson. She graduated in 1961 from Yuma High School in Yuma, AZ, she attended college at Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ, Coffeyville Community Junior College in Coffeyville, KS, graduated with double degree from Arizona Computer Institute in Yuma, AZ in 1987 and after graduation worked for them as lab aide and technician. She started working at age 14 in many Yuma area restaurants, was a seamstress for Hicks-Ponder, Arizona Slack and Balboa Sportswear in Yuma, AZ. She was a cake decorator at Nancy Jane Bakery in Yuma, AZ and a cook and baker at McPherson College in McPherson, KS. She also worked as office manager and secretary for the Yuma Public Health Department in Yuma, AZ. She served on Board of Directors for Legal Aide in Hutchinson, KS, (Reno County) 1976-1978 and served as a 4-H leader for 20 years and was a volunteer and board member of DOCS Nutrition. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Miami, OK.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors includes 1 son, Shaun R. Carlson (GY SGT Ret) and wife Melissa of McPherson, KS, 3 daughters, Jeri L. Blile of McPherson, KS, Edna F. Hardy of Miami, OK and Katrina D. Hale of Miami, OK, 1 brother, Lynn Morris and wife Patsy of Fort Worth, TX, 2 sisters, Peggy Bailey and husband Dean of Welton, AZ and Jan Brown of Yuma, AZ, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, OK. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK.
