Columbus head coach Mick Tedlock named 3A coach of the year

COLUMBUS, Ks. – Columbus head coach Mick Tedlock was named the 3A coach of the year.

“I was surprised and I didn’t expect it,” Tedlock says. “It’s a tribute to the boys, the players and the assistant coaches too.”

Tedlock led the Titans to a historic finish this past season. Columbus made its first ever state tournament appearance this spring, but they didn’t just make the tournament, they went on to earn a spot in the state championship game. The Titans finished as the 3A state runner up with a 22-3 overall record.

“Leading this group has been very special,” Tedlock says. “They play well. I got good pitching and they hit the ball well. They’re very coachable kids. We have a lot of younger kids and they look up to [the varsity high school team] and we talk about that too. Hopefully that will build and keep going for the future of Titan baseball.”
