JOPLIN, Mo.– Coming this July, 9-8-8 will be the new mental health hotline nationally. Anyone calling about concerns such as suicide crises, substance abuse, and other mental health concerns will be able to call.
Missouri’s is set to launch in July, and the Ozark Center in Joplin will be among the original 200 call centers to be answering the hotline.
The Ozark Center will be adding new phone stations and desks to accommodate the increase in calls starting this July.
The substance abuse and mental health services administration is recruiting nationally to get the staff that can answer these calls.
