Structure fire under investigation in Independence, Kan.

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. — Early Wednesday morning about 3:45 a.m. Indy Fire-EMS were alerted to a structure fire at 217 S Earl Ave.

Fire first arrival on scene observed the structure as fully involved.

A defensive attack was done with multiple hand-lines and Tower 1 aerial master stream to bring the fire under control.” — INDEPENDENCE FIRE EMS

Cherryvale Fire-EMS and Dearing Fire assisted as mutual aid to Independence city and rural departments. All crews were released at 8 a.m.

The structure appears to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No firefighters or occupants were injured.
