Car used in Armed Robbery at Mo. Subway Restaurant located after Okla. I-44 pursuit and manhunt

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – Tuesday morning just after 8:30 a.m. Jasper County Deputies responded to a call of an Armed Robbery in Airport Drive at Subway Restaurant, 6019 N Main.

Investigation revealed a black male, 5’6″, brandished a firearm, demanded all the money and fled in a dark gray Chrysler 300 from the Subway location.  The vehicle was captured on security cameras.

Deputy Chief Derek Walrod tells Joplin News First Wednesday the Chrysler 300 was located.  It was involved in an multi-agency pursuit along I-44 then onto OK-20 towards Pryor on Tuesday afternoon in Mayes County.

At one point during the pursuit the vehicle went into oncoming traffic, attempting to elude officers.

The car eventually came to a stop west of Pryor and the male fled on foot. Bobby Thorsen of Pryor captured the vehicle chase on camera.  He tells us a helicopter was circling the area as GRDA and other authorities searched for the male.

He ditched his car.  He went off into a pretty heavily wooded/brush area,” Thorsen says. The male suspect was not located.

Deputy Chief Walrod states they believe they know who the suspect is but he is not revealing that at this time. Additionally his Jasper County investigators have not processed the vehicle yet.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Oklahoma.

No one was injured in the pursuit and following manhunt.
