JOPLIN, Mo. – Officials from the Joplin Police Department say they’re training to be as proactive as possible when it comes to active shooter threats.

The department says they even have special investigators who look into potential threats.

Captain Will Davis of the Joplin Police Department stated “We do take this matter very seriously. We’ve got policies in place and we have officers that we send across the country to become certified to respond to active threats. They’re certified to teach particular response tactics.”
