Jimmy Dean Becker

Jimmy Dean Becker, age 58, resident of Alva, OK, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, surrounded by family.

Jimmy was born October 30, 1963 to Rosalyn and Everett Becker. He graduated from Oswego High School in 1982. During his high school years, he competed as a team roper and steer wrestler in the Kansas State High School Rodeo Association and was honored as the state champion in steer wrestling in 1982. He then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. While at NWOSU he earned his bachelor’s degree and competed on the rodeo team. He then worked for Triple C Cattle traveling all over western Kansas buying cattle from feedlots.

Jimmy had two passions in life. First was his passion for rodeo. Throughout his life Jim competed in the sport of rodeo earning many honors and developing lifelong friendships along the way. He was especially fond of his horses and took the time to develop each of them to their potential. Second was his love music. He enjoyed attending a concert whenever he had to opportunity, usually taking friends along with him to enjoy it too. His willingness to share his hobbies with others was greatly appreciated by those who knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother Rosalyn Becker. Survivors include his dad Everett Becker of Oswego, KS; a sister, Sherri Brown and her husband Matt of McLouth, KS; a brother, Rocky Becker and his wife Jennifer of Oswego, KS; nieces and nephews Christopher Becker, Baylee Brown, Allison and Emmett Becker.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 13 at 11 am at the Labette County Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena in Oswego, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests memorials to Doug Hazelbaker Memorial Fund, Cowboys for the Cancer Crisis or Allison and Emmett’s college fund.
