Sara Sue Love Davidson, age 80, of Loma Linda, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Freeman Hospital with family at her side.
Sue was born April 5, 1942 in Anderson, Missouri, daughter of the late Howard Love and Oleta (Amos) Love. She graduated from Anderson High School, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State (now MSU) in Springfield, Missouri, and her Master’s degree from Pittsburg State University in Education. She retired from Joplin R VIII School District, where she was a Home Economics teacher. After retiring, she loved to travel and worked part-time at the Missouri Visitor’s Center on I-44.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she served with the Lamplighters and with her Kitchen Crew. Sue was a devoted servant, volunteering at her church, sewing masks for the community, making beds for shelter animals, and helping feed other volunteers even while she was fighting her illness. When not volunteering, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and going on drives with friends. You could often find her snuggling with her kitties with a good book or in her favorite spot by the window watching birds.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Davidson; her brother, Charles Love; and a son, Billy Davidson.
Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Fisher and husband Tim of Carthage, Teri Riggs and husband Mike of Marietta, Georgia, and Bev Kishpaugh and husband Harry of New Melle, Missouri; her sister, Ervena Weingartner and husband Dick of Fairfield, Ohio, and their daughter, Tana “Brat” Weingartner of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister-in-law Dorothea Kehm and her husband Dennis. She was also wrapped in love by her cousin John Meares, his wife Cyndy, and their sons Cory and Devin.
Sue was delighted to make memories with her grandchildren Truman Fisher (who gave her her favorite title “Grammer”), Sarah Amico and her husband Andrea, Katie Helton and her husband Matt, Emily Riggs, Kara Jean Murray, Jenny Wells and her husband Mike. She was overjoyed to be gifted 15 great-grandchildren Ava, Sofia, Zoe, Ezra, Ruth, Noah, Gabby, Emalynn, Parker, Charlie, Johnny, James, Autumn, Hunter, and Rowan.
She will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at St. Paul’s on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Sue will be laid to rest with her family in Anderson Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, Sue asked well-wishers to donate to the American Cancer Society.
