He was born on June 28, 1927 in Columbus, KS to the union of Arthur and Pauline (Kubler) Christiansen. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1946-1947. He was married to Martha Anne Belt in Columbus, KS, on August 4,1947 in Columbus, KS. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1950 with a degree in Education with emphasis on athletics. After working a few years, he went back to Pittsburg State University and received his Masters Degree in Education in 1961. He was a long- time resident of Columbus, and enjoyed farming on the side.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, and children, Todd (wife Shelby), Lisa Howard (husband, Laddie), and Clay (wife, Karen); three sisters: Erma Juergensen of Churdan, Iowa, Thelma Wuerdeman of Pittsburg, KS, and Edna Lassman of Carl Junction, MO.; Five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ann Ayers, and one sister, Doris Christiansen.
Mr. Christiansen has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
