It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Warren Lee Wilbur, 89, of Miami, OK. Born in Picher, OK on 26 October 1932 to Fern DeMaris (Fletcher) and Warren Wilson Wilbur, he grew up at the Twin Ranches, west of Commerce, OK. He was honored to have served the Lord in three different denominations over his life – Baptist, Congregational, and Presbyterian – each for a period of 20 years or longer. A member of the Miami High School’s class of 1950, he had the lead in several plays there and continued his interest in theater by majoring in Drama and English at Baylor University. At Baylor, he also sang in an impromptu quartet and in Baylor’s Glee Club, serving as the Master of Ceremonies for their concerts while on tour. From Baylor, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 1960.

At Baylor, he met Wanda Lou Petty, marrying her when he was at seminary. He began his ministry as the pastor at the historic Baptist Church of Little Washington, VA and simultaneously at the Flint Hill Baptist Church in Flint Hill, VA. From there he became the pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. After that, he held various positions, including as the Director of the Washington D.C. Chapter of Club Internationale, a vacation travel club. During this time, he supported and taught adult education classes at Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale, VA. He retired after 20 years with the Washington D.C. Department of Corrections as a Case Manager.

Following his retirement, Warren Lee returned to Miami, OK and preached at the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church, Cherryvale, KS and then at the First Presbyterian Church, Chelsea, OK. At the time of his death, he was serving as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Miami, OK. He avidly followed several sports teams, especially OU football, and always had a special fondness for beaches, particularly those of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. He is survived by his son, Carter Warren Wilbur, daughter-in-law Sarah Wilbur (McLeod), and grandson Thomas McLeod Wilbur, as well as by his sister DeMaris Gaines (Wilbur) and nieces Liz Gaines-Gore and Chris Gaines Herrera.
