At Baylor, he met Wanda Lou Petty, marrying her when he was at seminary. He began his ministry as the pastor at the historic Baptist Church of Little Washington, VA and simultaneously at the Flint Hill Baptist Church in Flint Hill, VA. From there he became the pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. After that, he held various positions, including as the Director of the Washington D.C. Chapter of Club Internationale, a vacation travel club. During this time, he supported and taught adult education classes at Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale, VA. He retired after 20 years with the Washington D.C. Department of Corrections as a Case Manager.
Following his retirement, Warren Lee returned to Miami, OK and preached at the Cherryvale Presbyterian Church, Cherryvale, KS and then at the First Presbyterian Church, Chelsea, OK. At the time of his death, he was serving as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Miami, OK. He avidly followed several sports teams, especially OU football, and always had a special fondness for beaches, particularly those of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. He is survived by his son, Carter Warren Wilbur, daughter-in-law Sarah Wilbur (McLeod), and grandson Thomas McLeod Wilbur, as well as by his sister DeMaris Gaines (Wilbur) and nieces Liz Gaines-Gore and Chris Gaines Herrera.
