Still watching a severe threat for Friday

Sticking with the pattern, we’ll hold on to chances for scattered t-storms for Thursday and Friday as our next storm system heads our way. However, we’re still keeping a close eye on our t-storm chances for Friday afternoon and evening. The storm system headed in will have a stronger cold front, more moisture, some more instability and better upper-level support to work with. While all those factors will lead to strong to severe t-storm development, there’s one big factor that could let either let t-storms fire up or really hold back any development. All indications show that we’ll have some warm air aloft over the region. With most indicators showing the cap holding on, that could limit t-storm chances to very isolated or widely scattered t-storms. If the cap can break with some warmer air at the surface or stronger dynamics aloft, t-storms will be more likely to develop with all hazards possible. Nonetheless, we’ll still keep a very close eye on this setup through the course of the week.
