SUV into Shoal Creek at Gateway Drive; Redings Mill Water Rescue Team retrieve driver from roof

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — About 9:30 a.m. Monday morning reports of a vehicle into Shoal Creek off Gateway.

Redings Mill Fire, Newton County Ambulance and Newton County Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Sam Carpenter tells us it was a single vehicle crash. Driver was transported by Redings Mill Water Rescue to dry land. He was not injured.

The SUV was traveling north on Gateway, left the roadway and then traveled down to the bank and into the water.

The vehicle is near the middle of the creek partially under the bridge. And up to the roof.

Trooper J.S. Baird on the scene tells us the driver fell asleep and traveled off the road and into the creek.

Metro Towing removed the SUV with assistance from Redings Mill Fire.
