Beulah F. “Bea” Hedrick

Beulah Faye “Bea” Hedrick, 82, of Mound Valley passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Good Samaritan in Parsons.

Beulah Faye Thomas was born on February 16, 1940 to Jack and Bertha (Byrd) Thomas in Clinton, Arkansas.  Later, her family moved to Mound Valley, Kansas.   Beulah worked for a time at ACC in Independence, Funk Manufacturing in Coffeyville and at Powerflame in Parsons for fifteen years as an assembly wireman.  She also worked as a cook at Katy Station in Parsons and had her own restaurant “Beulah’s Café” in Mound Valley, for a few years.

Bea was united in marriage to Robert “Pete” Hedrick on September 1, 1956.   Pete preceded her in death on July 3, 2021.   She loved cooking and could make a great meal on little ingredients.  She also enjoyed antiquing, gardening and being a housewife and mother.

Survivors include four sons:  Robert Hedrick III (Kathy), Kevin (BilliJo), Michael (Reveca) and Bo (Kim) all of Mound Valley; nine grandchildren, Zak Hedrick, Reece Hedrick, Zach Hight, Cory Hight, Madison Hedrick, Seth Smith, Bridget Smith, Daphne Hedrick and Eli Hedrick; eight Great-grandchildren; one brother Bobby Thomas of Greenwood, Arkansas, and one sister, Charlotte Tuten of Mount Vernon, Missouri.

In addition to her husband, Pete, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Mound Valley Cemetery with Pastor Travis Modesitt officiating.    Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m., at the Altamont United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Friday, April 15, 2022.  Memorials are suggested to the Mound Valley Fire Department and may be mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons KS 67357.
