Search warrant leads Chanute police to a large amount of narcotics

CHANUTE, Kan. – Last month, detectives with the Chanute Police Department seized a multitude of illegal narcotics.

On March 23, 2021, officers and detectives with the Chanute Police Department began investigating the source of controlled substances found within the city.

During the investigation, officers conducted two residential search warrants in the 1200 block of S. Edith Ave. in Chanute on April 11th, 2022.

Upon completion, officers discovered the following:

  • Taurus 9mm handgun
  • AK style .22 caliber rifle with a loaded magazine
  • Alprazolam
  • Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine
  • Acetaminophen/Oxycodone
  • Tizanidine
  • Cyclobenzaprine
  • Clonazepam
  • Diclofenac
  • 71 packages of THC edibles
  • Cannabis Oil Vapes/”Kaw Bars”
  • A 1500 mg bottle of flavored THC syrup

Officers arrested one suspect in connection to the searches.

Police say the packaging of the illegal narcotics closely matches popular brands of legal food items.
