Freeman and Mercy Hospital host a celebration of life

JOPLIN, Mo. – Freeman Health System and Mercy Hospital in Joplin will celebrate organ donors, their recipients, and those still waiting for the gift of life tomorrow, April 12th.

Officials say approximately one million lives across the country are touched by gifts of tissue donation each year.

Statistics show that nationally, more than 100,000 people currently wait for lifesaving transplants.

Four years ago, Rohen Reeves, 6, from Joplin received a life-saving heart transplant. Rohen’s mom says he is still doing amazing, thanks to the donation of life from Jerimiah Broadwell.

Vickie Broadwell, the mother of Jeremiah, the hero who donated his heart to Rohan, spoke to those in attendance about her story. Rohan’s mother, Amanda Reeves also spoke to those in attendance.
