Accumulating rain from Sunday & Monday’s t-storms

On top of the severe t-storm warnings and reports of wind and hail that we received from Sunday night’s and Monday morning’s t-storms, a good portion of the area picked up on quite a bit of rainfall. Our rain amounts map, based on radar estimates, shows where the bulk of the rain fell last night and into the morning hours. While parts of southeast Kansas hardly got anything, the rain ramped up along and north of I-44. This was where rain amounts ranged between a quarter of an inch on the low end to almost 5 inches in some spots. In fact, the heavy rain that came down so fast resulted in flash flood warnings for Cherokee and Jasper counties during the early morning hours. Fortunately, those waters have come down and we’re getting a break in the rain chances this evening. While much of Tuesday is looking dry, we’ll watch for a few t-storms tomorrow evening and better t-storm chances for Wednesday morning.
