Catherine Geneva Beck, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. She was born July 13, 1928, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of Ueal and Lorene (Brashers) Leath.

Catherine was a 1947 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She retired from the Mt. Vernon Rehabilitation Center where she worked in the dietary department. She enjoyed fishing and camping, attending her grandsons sporting events especially the football games, gardening, going to the casino, spending time with her grandkids and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church.

On July 12, 1947, she married George Thomas Beck, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2019.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Sue Shuckahosee and her husband, Gary, of Aurora; granddaughter, Johnna Roark and her husband, David, of Springfield, Missouri; four great-grandsons, Russ Burton and his wife, Kortney, Zack Burton, Jordon Burton and Melissa, and Tye Burton and his wife, Amanda; six great-great grandchildren, Talen Burton, Avery McNeely, McKinley Burton, Elle Mae Burton, Millie Rose Burton and Becklie Burton; two brothers, Delbert Leath and his wife, Barbara, of Kimberly City, Missouri and Roger Leath of Branson, Missouri; brother-in-law, Floyd Beck and his wife, Donna, of Nixa, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents, Ueal and Lorene; infant, Baby Beck; one brother, Harold Leath and three sisters, Nova Brown, Wilda Wilson and Norma Lee Blevins.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Ruckman Cemetery, east of Mt. Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Ruckman Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
