Timothy Joseph Michel

Timothy Joseph Michel, age 71, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 6:44 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born June 24, 1950, in Monett, Missouri, the son of the Jimmy and Jackie (Sisco) Michel.

On August 8, 1969, he married Rita Kay Sumners, in Aurora, Missouri.

Tim started Jimmy Michel Motors in 1968 along with his wife and parents and enjoyed working through the years with both his daughters, son-in-law, and grandson. He and his grandson recently purchased Marionville Power Sports, as he was excited to start a new adventure.

Tim was an avid golfer and loved traveling with his family-on-family vacations and loved playing with his three great-grandsons. He was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shriners of Springfield, Missouri.

Tim will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Rita; two daughters, Stacey (Chris) Vaught of Aurora and Kami (Eric) Shoenberger of Aurora; one sister, Libby (Bruce) Grisham of West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chad (Hailey) Vaught, Bryant Vaught, Emilie (Danny) O’Neill, Eric (Kylie) Shoenberger, Jr. and Ashley Vaught and three great-grandsons, Cohen and Caysen Vaught and Nolan O’Neill.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Jackie and his great granddaughter, Nora Grace Vaught.

A visitation under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Word of Life Church in Marionville, Missouri, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Child Advocacy Center or Isabel’s House, in care of the funeral home.
