Jimmie Dale Berry

Jimmie Berry , age 77, passed February 22, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Jimmie was born April 22, 1944 in the Tennessee Prairie Area east of Baxter Springs to James Henderson Berry and Minnie Ruth (Porter) Berry.

He graduated from Riverton High School, Riverton, KS., in 1962. He worked at McCartney- Ingersoll Rand for 30 years as a draftsman engineer and shop supervisor. He then built homes for a while before taking a job at NEO A&M College in Miami, Ok. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He also enjoyed gardening, making things, camping and talking to people. No matter where he was, he would always see someone that he knew!

He married Vickie (Simone) Berry on September 13, 1962 and they have spent 59.5 years together. Jimmie and Vickie and their family lived east of Baxter Springs until 1989. At that time, they moved to Grove, Oklahoma where they lived until 2003 and finally settled east of Miami, Ok. Besides his wife Vickie, he is survived by a daughter Tammi and her husband Rick Coombes and a son Todd and his wife Kelli Berry. Three grandchildren Addison Berry and her fiancé Zachary Parish, Emma Berry, and Seth Coombes and his fiancé Lauren Lindsey. Also, a sister Carol Tanner and a sister-in-law LeAnn Tunnell and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Jimmie John Berry, his parents James and Minnie Berry, his sister Mary Ruth Barnett, and parents-in-law John and Colleen Simone.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time on Monday. Jimmie has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Burial will follow in the Lowell Cemetery.
