Candidate filing for Missouri August Primary begins Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.– Individuals planning to file for August’s Primary Election can begin Tuesday.

Candidate filing opens at 8:00 AM on February 22nd and will close on March 29th at 5:00 PM. Candidates are responsible for knowing if they meet the qualifications for the office they intend to file for.

Candidates planning to file for office must have a paid filing fee receipt from a political party, a copy of an affidavit (not applicable for those running for U.S Congress) filed with the Department of Revenue, and proof of identity such as a voter identification card, Missouri driver’s license, birth certificate, or another form of certified identification.

Representatives from political parties and the Department of Revenue will be available at the secretary of state’s office on opening day only, to provide documentation for individuals who have not obtained necessary documents beforehand.
