Dorothy Lou Weldy

Dorothy Lou Weldy, age 89, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 2:22 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born October 9, 1932, in Marionville, Missouri, the daughter of William “Ted” and Vesta (Frazier) Cross.

Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Marionville High School and was a lab technician for Dr. Steve Drew. She was a member of the Red Hats Club and the Aurora Baptist Temple.

On May 24, 1997, she married William Jennings Weldy in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2012.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, David Cross and his wife, Nina, of Aurora; daughter-in-law, Belinda Herndon of Billings, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mitzie Barnes and her husband, Shannon, of Aurora, Lacey Ross and her husband, Jason, of Springfield, Missouri and Gabe Herndon and his wife, Cydney, of Nixa, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Kallie, Kacie and Janie Barnes and Chase, Ryder and Parker Ross; three stepchildren and several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ted, and Vesta; daughter, Paula Herndon; son, Harold “Weener” Herndon; first husband, Don Herndon; second husband, Billy Tiede; third husband, William Weldy; brother, John Cross and two sisters, Florence Cross and Suzanne Cavener.

A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Aurora Baptist Temple Missions, in care of the funeral home.
