Donna Johnson

Donna Kay Johnson, 70, Neosho, MO, passed into eternal rest January 14, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital after an illness.
Donna Kay Booth was born July 19, 1951 in Wabash, IN the daughter of William and Thelma Booth. Donna had an Associates of Business Degree. She formerly worked for GXT Tire and was a customer service rep. for AT&T. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. Donna was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son Scott Johnson and wife Mendel, Seneca; siblings Larry Booth, Ft Wayne, IN, Harold Booth, Wabash, IN, Benny Hively, Warsaw, IN Betty Louise Owens, Argas, IN, Cindy Hively, New Haven, IN, Mickey Hively, Warsaw, IN; three grandchildren, Mackensie Powers, Skye Johnson and Kade Johnson and her best friend Maxine Johnson.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents William and Thelma and one sister Patricia “Sue” Hoppus.
The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home Seneca. Services will be held by the family at a later date.

Danny Douglas Crane

Danny Douglas Crane, age 48, passed away at his home in the Carl Junction Residential Care Facility on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Born June 21, 1973, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Danny spent nearly the next 50 years becoming a part of the lives of many in the Joplin area. He was a graduate of the Joplin R-VIII School district and would later retire as an employee of the “Joplin Schools” after a lengthy career in maintenance. In retirement, he continued to enjoy active membership in the Joplin National Education Association.

A long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Danny was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 14096, where he truly participated in and benefited from a brotherhood built on charity unity, and fraternity.
Danny was known and loved for his absolute zeal for life with robust interest in classic country music, Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO, Downstream Casino, the Ozark Trout Resort, and connection with those whom he loved. Perhaps his most profound legacy is the vast network of friends Danny gained during his lifetime. Whether via email, text, social media, call, or in person, Danny maintained relationships with his “friends;” a title he issued to others with trust, love, and mutual appreciation.

Danny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Doug and Mary Crane, in 2019.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services and the Rite of Committal will be concluded in June at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine, MO where the family plot is located. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army of Jasper and Newton Counties or the Knights of Columbus.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.

Tamelia R. Edwards

Tamelia R. Edwards, 49, of Galesburg, passed away at 2:20 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi in Pittsburg.  She is survived by her husband, Art, of the home.

Jefferson Wayne Norton Davis

Jefferson Wayne Norton Davis, 61, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.  Jefferson was born February 24, 1960 in Knoxville, TN to Parke A. and Eleanor C. (Norton) Davis. He married Renee Gotviagehya on January 12, 1996 in Topeka, KS and she survives of the home.

Jefferson was raised in Grainger County, Tennessee near Knoxville and graduated from Rutledge High School Class of 1978. Prior to attending college, he worked as a police officer in several cities in Tennessee jurisdictions. He then attended the University of Tennessee obtaining a degree in Library Science, and later graduated from Washburn University Law School in Topeka, KS. Following law school, he practiced law in Topeka for a time. Jefferson was a longtime member of the Missouri, Kansas, and Tennessee Bar Associations.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning vegetables from his garden. He also loved animals and rescued many dogs and cats. He has resided in Nevada for the past five years.

In addition to his wife Renee, he is survived by his brother, Anthony Davis, Blaine, TN; and a sister, Mary Jane Davis, Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating.   Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Kenneth Bacher

Kenneth Dale Bacher 87, passed away January 7th, 2022 in his home in Anderson Missouri.

He was born March 13th, 1934 in Verona, Missouri to Chris and Hazel (Hailey) Bacher.

Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Verona until October of 2019, when he and his wife Jodelle, moved to their present home in Anderson.

Kenny, as he was called, was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 14th, 1951, and in 1952, he began a lifelong career of preaching and teaching the good news of God’s Kingdom to all he came in contact with, doing so with love and enthusiasm.

On September 8th, 1962 he married the love of his life, Jodelle (Shumate) and together they shared the same love of God’s Word the Bible and the wonderful message of hope it contains.

Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evelyn and niece Donna.  He is survived by his wife Jodelle, his nephew Billy and wife Mary, and niece Jean Deerberg, along with many great nieces and nephews.

Kenny will be dearly missed as a man who never knew a stranger and always spoke positively of people and life.

Karen S. Hanigan

Karen S. Hanigan, 51, of Parsons, unexpectedly passed away at 7:55 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2022, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

Karen S. Westhoff was born on January 22, 1970, to Charles Albert and Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (VanLeeuwen) Westhoff in Parsons.  Growing up on the family farm, she was never one to shy away from hard work.  She attended St. Francis Catholic Church and St. Paul grade school.  In 1988, she graduated from St. Paul High School.

Following high school, she attended Labette Community College.  She worked at Living Skills, Prairie Mission Retirement Village and most recently at Exchange Insurance in St. Paul.

A devoted wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, her free time was often spent helping family and friends.  She lovingly shared her generous spirit and her talent for organizing.

On August 3, 2007, Karen and Ernest D. “Ernie” Hanigan were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma.  He survives of the home.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2022, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.  The family will receive friends following the rosary.

Janice Dorann Crady

Janice Dorann Crady, age 74, Carl Junction, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Freeman in Joplin, MO.

Janice was born February 27, 1947 in Wentworth, MO to the late union of Oscar and Betty (Okelley) Sjoquist. She enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels in her spare time. She loved and adored her family the most and spent as much time as she could with her kids and grandkids. She had a dog that was like another family member to her. Janice loved going out to dinner with her family. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Karin Knight.

Janice is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Amy Allen (Kerry), Tina Cagle, and Stephanie Scott (Austin); two brothers, Mick Gadberry and Dick Gadberry; grandchildren Angelica Morris (Bret Voskamp), Courtney Morris, Charity Hills (Austin), Blake Hurley, Brent Smith (Heloisa), Stephen Jennings, Anthony Jennings (Svetlana), Nevaeh Scott, Chandler Scott, Eden Scott, Dakotah Allen; 12 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Kelly Fogarty.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Galena, Kansas at 11:00 a.m. with a dinner to follow, 415 E. 7th St. Galena, KS 66739.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers be sent to the Lafayette House.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.

Louise Demko

Mildred LOUISE Demko, 73 of Carl Junction, MO, went home to be with Jesus January 16, 2022, at Solace House, in the care of Avalon Hospice, Joplin. Louise was born August 17, 1948, in Doddridge County, West Virginia.  She was the middle child of the late William Rex Wildman and Mary A. Stephens Wildman of West Union, WV, and the granddaughter of the late Walter S. Stephens and Orphia Moore Stephens of Salem, WV, an infant sister Brenda Louise Wildman and a brother Rexall K. Wildman; also paternal grandparents the late William “Willie” Wildman and Ella Fox Wildman preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Mari Jo Lassiter(Scott) and a grandson Christopher Seams both of Florida; an older sister with whom she lived for a few years, Leona C. (Wildman) Rice of Carl Junction, MO.  A former husband, Nicholas Demko, also survives, as does a niece Carol Thompson Weaver & husband David; two nephews:  Philip Thompson (Jean) and Rob (Ginny) Thompson. She leaves behind special friends Shirley Harris and Donnie Mancil in Florida, Cathy Chew; nieces Stephanie, Ashley, Sarah & nephews Daniel, Nathan and a host of other friends.

She was a 1966 graduate of Doddridge County High School in West Union, WV. Before leaving her home in Stuart, Florida, in 2017, where she had lived for over 30 years, she was employed at Wojcieszak & Associates, as an Administrative Assistant for several years.  She was a member & church clerk of Christian Victory Center.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM with burial to be held at a later date.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM until service time at the mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

John Cody Carriger

John Cody Carriger, 37, of Goodman, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in McDonald County, Missouri.

Cody entered this life on March 25, 1984 in Gravette, Arkansas. He married Anja Kremer on May 5, 2018 on Indian Creek in Goodman, Missouri. He treasured his friends and family and would lend a helping hand to anyone. He worked in landscaping and concrete construction. Cody enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an all-around outdoorsman. Take your bow and a quiver full of arrows, and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me Genesis 27:3.

Cody is survived by his wife, Anja Carriger; three sons, Austin, Walker and Wyatt; several other family and friends who will dearly miss Cody.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
