Lingering dry conditions on the Drought Tracker

The latest look at the Drought Tracker still has some parts of the area in need of some moisture. For southwest Missouri, we have areas north of I-44 with abnormally dry conditions while areas south of the Interstate and into northwest Arkansas still show up in good shape. The main problem areas really pop up when you work into our corners of Kansas and Oklahoma. Much of northeast Oklahoma is experiencing some sort of drought. The conditions go from abnormally dry around Grand Lake to a moderate drought in Craig County to a severe drought in Nowata and Washington counties. At least we aren’t dealing with the extreme drought that remains confined to central and western Oklahoma. For southeast Kansas, we see moderate drought conditions from Chetopa, Independence and Howard down to the state line. Abnormally dry conditions continue northward to a line stretching from McCune to Thayer and Fredonia. With our rain and snow that we picked up on Friday and Saturday, we’ll see if that improved things when the updated Drought Tracker comes out Thursday morning.
