Walter C. Newman

Walter C. Newman went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 12, 2022

Walter was born December 23,1931 to Corbin and Leona Newman of Miami. Walter was a lifelong resident of Miami.

Enjoyed sports, most notably Football. As a Wardog, Walter was a team captain and a standout in his playing time with MHS. Walter also enjoyed rodeoing in the 4state area.

Walter was a hard worker, getting that work ethic from his parents. He helped his father with his grocery stores in Miami and Picher until his father’s untimely death. Walter helped his mother with their home and siblings after his father’s passing.

Walter’s career was all local and made many friends and relationships along his career path.
Worked for Art and Bob McFerron delivering grain, feed, and fertilizer to local farmers. He moved on to working with the Fitzgibbon Family which owned and operated Fitz Freight of Miami.
Walter’s last career move was with Yellow Freight of Baxter Springs. He loved being a Teamster and had lifelong friends and pride working for Yellow Freight.

Walter is proceeded in death by his parents Corbin and Leona, Wife Mary Alice, and two sisters Patrica and Sandra.

Walter is survived by his siblings Corbin, Peggy, Lela, and Richard. His son Tate and Wife Christine their five children, Amanda, Derek, Johnathon, Dillon, and Carson.

Walter was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

All of you have your own wonderful memories of Walter. Keep them alive and he will always be with you.

Mr. Newman’s services will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Interment will follow at the Glen Abbey Memorial Garden.
