Ruth Louise Bradfield, age 89, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away on at 1:41 am, January 11, 2022 at Medicalodge South in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Ruth was born on February 26, 1932 to John and Lucille (Murphy) Sprecher in Oswego, Kansas. She married the love of her life, Carlos Bradfield, who she met in high school, on August 6, 1950 in Oswego, Kansas. They were married 70 years. Carlos passed away on May 24, 2021.
Ruth worked at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator for 25+ years until her retirement in Parsons, Kansas. After retirement, she worked at Earth, Wind and Fire at the Meadowbrook Mall in Pittsburg until her health failed her. She loved working and meeting the public, loved to talk, and worshiped her grandkids and great grandkids and hearing about all of their activities.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki & Dick Horton of Pittsburg, Kansas. Her grandson and his wife, Todd and Anne Horton of Overland Park, Kansas, her grandson Chris Horton of East Orange, New Jersey, her grandson and his wife, Darren and Laura Bradfield of Atchison, Kansas. Three great- grandchildren, Kate Horton, Lucy and Josie Bradfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Bradfield, her parents, John and Lucille Sprecher, one son, David Bradfield, and two brothers, Richard and Robert Sprecher.
Per her wishes, Ruth has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date to bury her and her husband at Oswego Cemetery in Oswego, Kansas.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Medicalodge South, Avalon Hospice and Dr. Holly Cranston who provided such great care.
Memorial donations can be made to Avalon Hospice or Medicalodge South in Pittsburg. These may be left at or mailed to Derfelt Funeral Home in Columbus, Kansas.
