Dora Minnie Masser

Dora Minnie Masser ( Mastin) 100, passed peacefully and was reunited with her heavenly family on Monday Jan. 10, 2022. Dora was born April 28, 1921 to Frank and Alta Mastin, Council Groves, KS. She graduated High School, married William A. Borden Sr in 1939 and moved to Girard, KS. Dora and Bill had two children Karen Ilene and William Alfred Jr. They divorced in 1961. She married Clifford Kelley at Girard in 1962, after living most of their lives in Oregon they returned to Girard with Cliff passing away in 1980. Dora met and married her best friend Joe Masser in 1982. Starting their married life in Cherokee then moving to Girard. Joe sadly passed in 2011.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting with her husband, sewing, and flowers. She enjoyed Garage sales and her church family. In her younger years she enjoyed selling Avon. She worked as an apartment complex manager in Oregon and upon returning to Girard worked for Sauers Department Store.
She was member of the First Christian Church of Girard, Sunday school teacher, The Electa Chapter 23 of the Eastern Star of Girard, and the Girard Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include: Daughter-In-Law Julie-Anne Harlan ,Ft Scott, KS; grandsons Jeffery Harlan(Lori) Abilene, TX, Joe Borden, Pittsburg, KS, James Harlan (Melissa) Girard, KS, Bill Borden (Tina), Mindenmines, MO, Ben Borden (Lou) of Girard, KS and Jeremy Harlan (Nikia), Little Katy, TX . Granddaughter Debbie Borden, Girard, KS. 14 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. Niece Judy Lemmons and her husband Larry of TX and nephew Dale Herbsteith of Council Grove, KS.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, 8 siblings: Elsie, Pearl, Florence, Viola, Clara, Phyrnne, Frank and Ernest, son William A Borden Jr, daughter Karen I Harlan, grandson Curtis Harlan, son-in-law Jerry Harlan, grandson Jon Harlan, and granddaughter Kelly Borden.

Private family services will be held on Friday with Rev. Renee Goodwin officiating and burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Girard and these may be sent to the funeral home at 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
