PSU hosts bi-annual Wood Tech Boot Camp

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pitt State University hosts bi-annual Wood Tech Boot Camp.

The camp takes place every January and May. Each semester, associate Professor Charlie Phillips compresses a semester’s worth of curriculum into one week during Wood Tech Boot Camp.

Attendees employed in sales and other aspects of wood-related companies come to Pittsburg from across the nation as well as Canada to learn. As a result, participants become proficient in the newest techniques and equipment.

The class covers the following:

  • mill working
  • finishing
  • CNC and CAD
  • cabinetry skills
  • techniques to build a project to take home

According to assistant professor Charlie Phillips, “When people leave here, not only do they have an overview of the work, but they actually get some hands-on experience that they can apply in their field.”
