Rebecca L. Webb

Rebecca Lynn (Stephen) Webb, 66, of Parsons, passed away at 4:43 a.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born on July 23, 1955 in Parsons to Lionel J. “Bud” and Eva L. (Abel) Stephen. Rebecca grew up in Parsons and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1973. During high school she played the clarinet in the band and toured with the Summer Stock Theatre. She then attended Labette Community College graduating in 1975 and from Wichita State University in 1985 with a Bachelors of Arts in Education with duel accreditation in American History and Political Science.
She and William “Bill” Webb of Syracuse, NY were united in marriage on March 27, 1978 at the Foursquare Church in Parsons.
She had her first and only child, Stephanie Christina Webb in 1979. Shortly thereafter she moved to Wichita, Kansas where she pursued a career in education working for Dunbar Learning Center assisting students to obtain their GED, and SER Corporation teaching English as a second language. Later she taught adult basic education in Winter Haven, FL. When she returned to Parsons in 1994 she developed Families with a Vision for the Future a community outreach organization, and co- founded the Alternative Enrichment Center for at risk youth at the Parsons Middle School. She finished out her career working as a case manager for Labette Center for Mental Health. She retired in 2009, but actively developed curriculum for community outreach and enrichment. She was known for her smile and kind heart, and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; daughter, Stephanie Christina Webb, and her husband, Jeremiah R. Countryman, of Parsons; grandchildren, William James Hammack, Alexandria Anastasia Hammack and Katherine Elizabeth Hammack, all of Parsons; sisters, Regina L. Cook, Phyllis A. Hite, and her husband, Gayle, all of Parsons, and Kathlene M. Krueger of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Cole DeCal Hammack and an uncle, Jospeh Allen Abel, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Thursday.
