Orval Edgar Stephens, 88, a long time Ottawa County resident passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Eastwood Manor in Commerce. He was born in Newport, Oregon on October 20, 1933 to Riley and Elsie Stephens.
Orval was known as a hard worker his whole life. He worked in the mines in Picher until they closed. He also worked in saw mills for over thirty years. After he could no longer work at the saw mills, he worked for nursing homes in the laundry. Orval took great pride in his work. Orval married his wife Opal (Barnes) Stephens at his home in commerce in 2003. He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Commerce, Oklahoma. Orval was most known for his faith and his love for his family. He was a “hugger” and loved to eat. Preceding him in death are his parents Riley and Elsie, his Grandsons Eric Stephens and Brandon Stanley.
Those left to share his memory are his wife Opal Stephens, his sons Kevin Stephens and his wife Sharon, Larry Stephens and his wife Cara, and Steve Betts and his wife Jeanette. His grandchildren include April Fallis, Kevin Bland Jr., Mathew Bland, Starla Martin and Valarie Blunk. Orval also had a host of great grandkids and one great great granddaughter.
Orval also leaves behind his distant family in Oregon.
