JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Humane Society hosted Shelter Pals, an educational event, today.
The Shelter Pals program offers kids ages six to 15 a chance to work on their reading skills. The shelter encourages children to do so by reading to dogs and cats waiting to be adopted.
Joplin Humane Society collected a $10 fee per child that goes towards the cost of the program.
